The Speech Language Pathologist(s) will service students within local districts in Hillsdale County and may service students in our HCISD Programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participates actively in building screening team meetings. Evaluates students referred by school, parents, physicians.
- Conducts screenings throughout the year for students with possible speech impairments and/or hearing loss.
- Interprets audiograms and medical reports to parents and classroom teachers.
- Participates in IEPC for handicapped students with accompanying speech and/or language development.
- Schedules and conducts annual IEP meetings on students whose only impairment is speech and language.
- Prepares and maintains records and reports.
- Established caseloads which vary in number depending on the severity of impairment, the time needed for remediation, and group ability of students in schools served.
- Supervisor and speech pathologist is responsible for caseload determination.
- Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community.
- Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students’ needs and correct existing speech or language handicaps.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the students’ daily activities.
- Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
- Attendance is an essential part of employment.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- Required Master’s degree in the field of Speech and Language Pathology.
- Michigan Department of Education approval as Teacher of Speech and Language Impaired OR ASHA and CCC certified preferred.
- Experience with elementary, middle school, high school students presenting mild, moderate, and severe impairments in a public school setting preferred.
Employment Date, Salary, and Work Year
Anticipated start date will be determined upon hire. Salary is determined as per the master contract. Workdays will be 185 pro-rated days per the master contract. This position will be open until filled. EOE
