Description

Supervisor of ISD Special Education Programs & Classrooms

 

The Supervisor of Special Education Programs & Classrooms is responsible for supporting the success of these programs and classrooms.  This role is responsible for the day to day operations of programming, improvement initiatives, and coaching support for all ISD programs, staff and students.  This position regularly attends IEP’s, facilitates team meetings, and collaborates with program staff, local school districts, and related service providers. It requires the essential skills of building relationships with staff, students and families.  This Supervisor works directly with the following ISD programs and classrooms which are located in multiple locations: 

  • Intensive Support
  • Cognitive Impairment
  • ASD
  • Young Adult Services

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of special education regulations
  • Work as a team with other professionals to pursue and meet individual performance objective
  • Provide on-going coaching support to ISD program staff
  • Establish a positive relationship with teachers, parents, and education providers, and communicate with them regularly about growth, progress, problems, and successes
  • Facilitate an environment that fosters positivity, collaboration, and the learning of all students
  • Provide on-going support to meet established program targets
  • Knowledge of specially designed instruction and inclusive approaches for students
  • Draft procedures that ensure smooth implementation of program requirements and meet student needs
  • Organize subs and caseloads within MARSE and program requirements
  • Facilitate IEP teams in determining LRE for students with complex or intense needs
  • Organize systems to track growth and performance of initiatives
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset in all decision making
  • Schedules and organizes professional development in collaboration with administration
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Manage multiple projects independently
  • Coordinate transportation for students
  • Support classroom staff in the development of student plans and manage crisis situations
  • Oversee all safety protocols for ISD programs and classrooms

 

Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Administrative Certification with the capability to become Special Education Administrative Certified preferred
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a special education endorsement is preferred
  • Extensive experience with low incidence populations is preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively with parents, colleagues, community members, educational staff, administration and students is required
  • Coaching experience is preferred
  • Program development experience is preferred

Employment Date, Salary and Work Year

Anticipated start date will be determined upon hire. Salary and work days will be determined upon hire.
