ASD Teacher (grades 9-12)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participates actively in building screening team meetings. Evaluates students referred by school, parents, physicians.
- Completion of diagnostic evaluations of children referred for Special Education, which may include tests, observation, and consultation.
- File written reports and disseminate same to appropriate staff and agencies.
- Previous ASD experience a plus.
- Submission of all necessary information to ISD secretary for maintenance of Central Registry and Special Education files on all children evaluated, in a timely fashion.
- IEP involvement:
- Preparation of test information and appropriate recommendations.
- Presentation of written report to committee.
- Assist the teacher in planning for an individual instructional program through describing the learning potential and ways in which the child may achieve.
- Re-evaluate all children in Special Education programs within required timelines.
- Meet required timelines including but not limited to reports, evaluations, IEP and MET requirements.
- Consult with student’s parent and staff regarding student which may include the child study process.
- Must use appropriate technology to complete aspects of the job including but not limited to the use of computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office); web and electronic-based programs; email; and voice mail.
- Travel to meet job requirements.
- Adhere to Board Policies and Procedures.
- Attendance is an essential part of employment.
- Other duties may be assigned.

- Masters Degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a special education certification.
- Full approval from the Michigan Department of Education as a Teacher Consultant is a plus.
Employment Date, Salary and Work Year
Anticipated start date will be determined upon hire. Salary is determined as per the master contract. Work days will be 185 days per the master contract. This position will be open until filled with a suitable candidate. EOE
