Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Other Duties may be Assigned

  • Commitment to working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Physical demands include: standing, walking, bending, reaching and lifting and/or moving students
  • A demonstrated pattern of excellent attendance
  • Flexibility to work in many different classrooms/environments.
  • Maintains confidentiality of records and student matters.
  • Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may, from time to time, be assigned
  • Provide support for both Gen Ed and Special Ed settings.

Education and/or Experience

  • Michigan Dept. of Education guidelines state that an individual working in this position must meet one of the following requirements in addition to meeting the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements.  Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours), or obtain an associate’s degree (or higher), or meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment knowledge of the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics or instructing readiness in these same areas.  The Michigan State Board of Education has approved the ETS Parapro Assessment as a formal assessment by which an individual can demonstrate knowledge.

  • Attendance is an essential part of employment.

Employment Date, Salary, and Work Year

  • Pay is $15.00-$18.00 per hour based on experience.
  • You will have all holidays off, Spring Break, etc.
  • This position works approximately 182 days, prorated for the 22-23 school year.
